Ceyara premium Ceylon tea brand story inspired by Sri Lanka’s rich tea heritage and traditional tea gardens

Our Story

Discover the heritage and tradition behind Ceyara

From Sri Lanka Highlands to British Teacups

CEYARA was born from a simple idea: tea should be pure, kind to the earth, and a joy to share. As a UK-based brand with roots in Sri Lanka, we exist to connect you with teas that are:

  • Grown organically in Sri Lanka’s highlands
  • Crafted with care by skilled local farmers
  • Packed and blended to meet the taste and quality expectations of British tea lovers

Every cup of CEYARA is a bridge – between Sri Lankan tea gardens and your kitchen in the UK.

Why Sri Lanka? Why Organic?

Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon) is one of the world’s most celebrated tea origins – famous for bright, flavourful teas grown in cool mountain air and mineral-rich soil.

But CEYARA doesn’t just source “Ceylon tea”. We go a step further and work only with certified organic and fair trade producers committed to restoring biodiversity, protecting soil health, and supporting farming communities.

Our teas are sourced from regenerative organic gardens in Sri Lanka where tea bushes grow beneath a canopy of trees alongside herbs and spices. These living “forest gardens” restore soil health, support biodiversity, and allow nature to flourish once again.

By choosing CEYARA, you’re choosing tea that is:

  • Free from synthetic pesticides & fertilisers
  • Grown in harmony with nature
  • Traceable back to ethical, certified estates and smallholder communities

How CEYARA Started

CEYARA began with two realisations:

  1. UK tea shelves are crowded, but not always transparent.
Many blends say “Ceylon” or “Sri Lankan” without explaining where the tea comes from, how it’s grown, or who benefits from your purchase.
  2. Sri Lanka’s organic farmers deserve a clearer voice.
Producers like Greenfield Bio Plantations — organic, fair trade and carbon-conscious long before it was fashionable — carry a powerful story of sustainability and community that most tea drinkers never hear.

CEYARA was created to join these dots:

  • Bring truly ethical, organic Sri Lankan tea to the UK
  • Tell the real story behind each cup
  • Support long-term, community-led farming in Sri Lanka

From Leaf to Cup: Our Journey

  1. Grown Organically in Sri Lanka
Tea leaves are nurtured on certified organic estates and small farms, often at high elevations where cooler temperatures develop rich, complex flavours.
  2. Hand-Plucked & Expertly Processed
Only the finest leaves — the tender top two leaves and a bud — are hand-plucked. They are withered, rolled, oxidised or steamed, and dried to lock in aroma and flavour.
  3. Ethically Traded & Carefully Selected
We work with partners who follow fair trade principles, ensuring better prices, safer working conditions, and community support for farmers.
  4. Blended & Packed for the UK Tea Drinker
Our English Breakfast, Earl Grey, wellness blends and single-origin teas are crafted with British tastes in mind — full-bodied, flavourful, consistent.
  5. Shared With You, With Transparency
We openly share the origins, organic credentials, and community impact behind our teas — because your cup deserves honesty.
